t gives me immense pleasure to take part in introducing the 13th edition of Malaysia Builders Directory 2017/2018 by Marshall Cavendish (M) Sdn Bhd. This publication provides a highly readable overview of issues of relevance to the Malaysian construction industry in its editorial section and comprehensive business information on the diverse range of construction-related products and services available in the country. On behalf of Penang Master Builders & Building Materials Dealers Association (PMBBMDA), I would like to convey my sincere congratulations to the publisher for this successful directory.
Despite global economic uncertainties, the Malaysian construction industry showed remarkable performance in 2016, led by the infrastructure category which topped the list of projects registered with the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB). Growth in 2016 is expected to come in at 8.7%, compared with 8.2% in 2015. Moving into 2017, the outlook for the construction industry continues to be encouraging as the expected improvement in the domestic economy would be parallel to world economic recovery.
We are proud of the industry's achievement last year and remain confident of the prospects this year. We would like to invite contractors and building materials suppliers in Penang to join PMBBMDA and collectively explore the opportunities that the Malaysian construction industry has to offer. Lastly, we would like to congratulate the publisher again and hope readers will find this directory informative and helpful.
Thank you.Mr. Alvin Yeow
The President of Penang Master Builders & Building Materials Dealers Association (PMBBMDA)
